The Brixham Y.E.S centre is a place for young people aged 11 -25. It caters for all different kInds of people and groups, offers free information and advice on all sorts of issues to young people – including housing, benefits, relationships, employment, training, money - anything. Y.E.S also runs a number of projects including music workshops, creative sessions, media club and Young Volunteers who organise community events and raise the profile of young people in our community.
The Brixham Y.E.S centre is currently based at Bolton Cross near the police station, just across from the old Threshers off-licence, opposite the Bolton pub. But - we have run out of space. The groups have grown and Y.E.S has evolved, so we are planning to move to a new home.
We have the chance to move to a much bigger space – the old URC church in Bolton Street (just up the road from Wetherspoons on the other side of the road). We’d use the community wing to start with. It’s a massive space and could be used for all our current activities and much more. We will be able to expand and evolve here!!
The new space – nicknamed The Bolthole - will house more music, more media, more creativity, more drop-ins and new projects for young people of all ages!
The church and community wing have not been used for a long time and that is about to change! The question is – would YOU use us there? Will you come and be involved with Y.E.S at our new home? We hope so.
So that you can find out more about our move, we are holding an open event for anyone and everyone at The Bolthole.
This will be on the 4th September 2010, starting at 3pm finishing at 9:30pm.
We hope you will join us for some music, food, workshops and for you to explore our new space and tell us what you think.
We plan to expand and increase the range of activities offered by Brixham Y.E.S and to help The Bolthole evolve as a community project delivering new and exciting opportunities for everybody in our town.
There are also other developments in the pipeline – more of which later!
